Azneef Domino Rules

Azneef Dominoes

Azneef Dominoes (also known as All Fives) is a popular dominoes variant where scoring happens throughout the game, not just at the end.

Game Setup

Players: 2 to 4 players (can be played in teams with 4 players).

Set: Standard double-six domino set (28 tiles).

Objective: Score the most points by hitting multiples of 5 during gameplay.

Dealing

Each player receives 7 tiles.

The remaining tiles form the boneyard.

Opening the Game

  • The player with the highest double (usually double-6) must start.
  • If unavailable, players go down (double-5, double-4, etc.).

In following rounds:

  • The winner starts with any tile.

What is a Spinner?

The first double played is called a Spinner.

Why it matters:

  • It allows play in four directions instead of two.
  • Only the first double has this ability.

Gameplay

  • The starting player places a tile.
  • Players take turns matching tiles to open ends.

The round ends when:

  • A player plays all their tiles (dominoes)
  • Or the game becomes blocked

Scoring

Points are earned during gameplay.

You score when the total of all open ends equals a multiple of 5:

Examples:

  • 5 → 5 points
  • 10 → 10 points
  • 15 → 15 points

Example: If the ends are 6 and 4 → total = 10 → you score 10 points.

Important Notes:

  • If there is only one line: Count both ends of the chain.
  • If there are multiple ends (with spinner): Count all open ends.
  • If a double is at the end: Count both sides.

No Play Available

If you cannot play:

  • You may draw up to 3 tiles from the boneyard.
  • If still unable to play → pass your turn.

Case 1: Player dominoes

  • Remaining tiles in opponents’ hands are counted.
  • Rounded to the nearest multiple of 5.
  • Added to the winner’s score.

Example: The opponent has 19 → rounded to 20 → you gain +20 points.

Case 2: Blocked game

  • The player/team with the lowest points wins.
  • The difference is calculated and rounded to 5.

End of Game

The game ends when a player or team reaches a target score:

  • 150 points
  • or 250 points
