Tarneeb - 400 rules

A renowned partnership card game for 4 players, widely played in Lebanon. The players sit opposite each other at the gaming table, forming 2 teams. The game employs a standard deck of playing cards (52 cards, excluding the 2 Jokers).

Game Objective

The ultimate goal of the game is for one of the teams to reach 41 points or more through winning "Tricks."

Tricks

These are sets of cards played on the table, and the player who throws the highest-ranking card wins the Trick.

Cards and Distribution

Players select the first dealer who randomly distributes the cards. After each game, the dealing moves to the player on the right. Each player receives 13 cards at the beginning, arranging them by an ascending order: 2 < 3 < 4 < 5 < 6 < 7 < 8 < 9 < 10 < J < Q < K < A.

Bidding

Each player estimates the number of Tricks they believe they can win and declares it to the other players. In each round, players have one chance to bid on the number of Tricks they want, ranging from 2 to 13. If the total bids are less than 11, the cards are redistributed.

· If a player reaches a score of 30-39 points: the minimum bid becomes 3 Tricks.

· If a player reaches a score of 40-49 points: the minimum bid becomes 4 Tricks.

· If a player has 50 points or more: the minimum bid becomes 5 Tricks.

· If the result is at least 30-39: the minimum total bids become 12 Tricks.

· If the result is at least 40-49: the minimum total bids become 13 Tricks.

· If the result is 50 or more: the minimum total bids become 14 Tricks.

How to Play

1.  The player to the right of the dealer throws any card on the table, and other players must follow the same card suit.

2.  The turn proceeds counterclockwise, and the player with the highest-ranking card wins the Trick and starts the next round.

3.  Hearts is considered the most powerful suit.

4.  The player with the highest card wins the Trick.

5.  If there is a heart, the card holder wins.

6.  If there are multiple hearts, the one with the highest-ranking heart wins.

7.  The round ends when players run out of cards.

Scoring

Points are calculated individually for each player at the end of each round. If a player wins the number of Tricks they bid or more, only the number they bid is added to their score. If they fail to achieve their bid, the bid is subtracted from their score.

The scoring method for a player changes if their total score reaches 30 points or more, as follows:

In the end, the team whose player reaches 41 points wins, provided the other player on the same team has a score greater than 0.
